Transcripts

A transcript is a record of your Grade 11 marks and your Grade 12 marks to date. When do I need transcripts?

B.C. post secondary institutions - universities and university transfer programmes at colleges - transcripts are not required.

How does the college or university know what your marks are? In March or early April, Moscrop will send your marks to the Ministry of Education in Victoria. Also in March, you will sign a form called the "Post Secondary Institute Choices Form". This gives the Ministry your permission to share your marks with all the B.C. post secondary institutions. They will receive your marks (transcript) in May from the Ministry. If you’ve applied to a university transfer programme at a college or to a university, they will match your application with your transcript and if you meet all theirr equirements, you will gain conditional admission acceptance (i.e. Early Admission). So, in BC, the institutes receive your interim marks (March) and you final marks (July).

BCIT requires transcripts when you apply, but your final marks will be sent to BCIT by the Ministry. Interim (December and March) marks may arrive at BCIT later than required. *It is important that you submit your own copies of interim and final transcripts as soon as you receive them.

Career programmes at B.C. colleges usually require a transcript. See the application form for details, or if unsure, call the college.

Universities outside BC probably require transcripts. Make sure you read the information you get fromthe universities carefully in order to find out when do they require your transcript. If they receive any marks at all from the Ministry it would be only final ones. They will receive your final marks only ifyou indicate them on the "Post Secondary Institute Choices Form". You can have the final marks sent to two universities without charge. After that, there is a $5 fee per institution.

Scholarship candidates may require transcripts. Make sure you read the application carefully. Many times the school Scholarship Committee will get transcript information from the office so that you do not need to provide it.

How do I get a transcript?

  1. You make a request at the office for your transcript. A transcript consists of your Grade 11 final marks and your Grade 12 year to date marks (this could be your December report or your March report depending on when you ask).
  2. The fee for each transcript is $1.
  3. Each will have the Moscrop stamp on them and be sealed in an envelope. It is considered an official transcript as long as it remains sealed. If you open the envelope it is no longer acceptable as an official transcript.
  4. Make your request to Ms. Rubino in the office. Your transcript(s) will be available for pick up one week after your request.
