1899 Applied Skills: Keyboarding 8 - Outline
This term of Applied Skills helps students become prepared for all their future computerized course work at Moscrop. A main focus of this term is to help students develop correct touch typing skills. Students who know how to typing using correct typing technique are provided enriched opportunities to improve speed and accuracy using the Cortez Peters Champion Skill Keyboarding software program.
Students will also be introduced to a variety of word processing, presentation, and desktop publishing skills through the completion of computer assignments covering proper typing posture, internet research strategies, internet safety, and basic business concepts. In addition to learning file management skills, students will be introduced to the Moscrop computer environment to prepare them for future computer use.
2700 Business Computer Applications 9 - Outline
Here is your chance to learn more about computers! In this fantastic, skill-based course, you will learn the many functions of MS Office and be introduced to basic business concepts such as entrepreneurship, marketing and accounting. Students will also get a chance to develop touch typing skills. The information you learn in this course will help you when preparing assignments for your other subjects.

Are you interested in learning about starting a business, investing, the law, and how to be a wise consumer? This course introduces many business topics, and may help you determine an interest in Accounting, Marketing, Economics, Business Computers Applications, or Entrepreneurship and Marketing Management.
4740 Accounting 11 - Outline
Accounting is all around us! This course will introduce you to basic accounting concepts and theexciting role of accountng in business. Remember... in order to be successful, every business individual needs to know how to manage money. This practical course will not only teach you about money management in businesses, but will also help you with personal finance and basic skills such as filing an income tax report.
4710 Business Computer Applications 11 - Outline
This course allows you to use the computer to enhance your business skills and demonstrate your creativity. You will: build Dreamweaver websites using images you've created in Photoshop; track the stock market and design an Excel spreadsheet to analyze your success; create an Access database for the current real estate market; calculate mortgage payments on a home you can afford; narrate a fully automatic and animated Powerpoint presentation and much, much more!
No prerequisite needed.
4760 Marketing 11 - Outline
Want to use your creative edge in the business world? Not only will this course give you valuable knowledge for post-secondary school, it will also give you an edge if you are seeking a part-time job. Marketing 11 will give you hands-on retail sales skills, including cash register experience, to add to your resume. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the "Underground Team," at the Moscrop school store.
4780 Cultures and Tourism Industry 11 - Outline
Tourism 11 will deal with BC's second largest industry for employing people, the Hospitality and Tourism Industry. Topics include careers in tourism, event planning, adventure tourism, eco-tourism, food and beverage, transportation, hotel management, and more for the BC and Canadian market. There will be individual and group projects, oral presentations, power point and other interactive assignments throughout the year. A trip to Rogers Arena to see "behind the scene" at the home of the Canucks is scheduled some time during the year.
Students will be expected to participate in a hospitality industry standard certificate program: WorldHost, which is recognized throughout the world. Students will be required to pay for exam and booklet fees if they wish to receive the official certification from the BC government. The cost to students will be what the government is charging for the booklets and exam (no more than $15.00 at this time).
5780 Cultures and Tourism Industry 12 - Outline
Tourism 12 is a continuation of the Tourism 11 course, but will deal more with international tourism around the world. Topics include travel agent planning of trips, adventure and eco-tourism culturally around the world, cultural event planning, air transportation and the Vancouver International Airport Terminal (YVR), and more. Just like Tourism 11, the course will have individual and group projects, oral presentations, power point and other interactive assignments throughout the year. A possible day trip to Whistler is scheduled some time during the year.

5745 Financial Accounting 12 - Outline
Thinking about studying Commerce or Business Administration at the post-secondary level? This course is a must! In this course, you will get an introduction to Financial Accounting concepts taught at the post secondary level. Practical personal finance skills in the areas of budgeting, income taxes, investment and the interpretation of various financial statements will also be introduced. Students will also develop important analysis, presentation and critical thinking skills through the completion of projects that will help them apply accounting concepts to the real world.
5740 Accounting 12 - Outline
This computer-based course is an important course for those interested in starting their own business and/or wanting to develop money management skills. In addition to providing students with a more in-depth understanding of accounting concepts, students will learn how to use computerized accounting software to complete various accounting tasks. Practical personal finance skills in the areas of budgeting, income taxes, investment and the interpretation of various financial statements will also be introduced.
5715 Business Information Management 12 - Outline
Do you want to continue working with computers in Grade 12? Use our software to create "business information" including websites, reports, mailings, presentations and promotions enhanced with graphics you've Photoshopped. This course has no prerequisite: a desire to continue to work with business aplication software in an independent manner will be an asset.
5765 Entrepreneurship and Marketing Management 12 - Outline
Do you want to be a leader in our school business community? This course is designed for students interested in managerial experience, while running the school store. This is your chance to design Moscrop clothing, manage and schedule staff, make purchasing decisions and run promotional activities. FUN STUFF!
3390 Information Technology 10 - Outline
This course is designed for students with a desire to continue to learn about many different computer applications. Students will sample from the following: Gamemaker, Flash, Java programming, (HTML), Paint Shop Pro, as well as to continue building their skills in MS Office applications such as Powerpoint and Excel. At the completion of this course, students will be well equipped to take either Business Computer Applications 11 or Information Technology 11. There is no prerequisite for the course, however students are encouraged to have an intermediate working knowledge of MS Word.

This is an introductory course with a focus on the technical/logical aspects of information technology tools and resources. Students will gain skills and knowledge in the areas of computer programming, computer hardware, and multimedia presentations. Topics will vary with available software/student interest and may include: programming in C++ or other languages, Gamemaker, Dreamweaver, Excel, Access, Photoshop, Flash. This is an introductory course, no prerequisite required, however, the large programming component is easier for those with good math skills.
