If you have been selected for any award (e.g. entrance scholarship, bursary, etc.) please complete one of the attached forms and return to Ms. Beaton ASAP. Even if you are not going to accept the award, let Ms. Beaton know the name & amount of the award. Additional forms can be picked up from Room 333 anytime.

Scholarship information is posted on the Scholarship Bulletin Board which is on the third floor, across from the Library. Information will also be given to all Grade 12 English Teachers.

Moscrop PAC Awards
The following PAC awards are offered for students from the graduating class of 2010 who have attended Moscrop Secondary School for at least one year.
MOSCROPIAN Award is for students who represent the Moscrop spirit. Students can be nominated by any member of the Moscrop community including peers, parents, staff as well as self.
INSPIRING INDIVIDUAL Award is for well-rounded students who are encouraging, motivating, hard-working and consistently demonstrates a positive attitude. Nominations for this award will be accepted from teachers, peers, parents, staff or any other member of the community.
WE BELIEVE IN YOU Award is for students who have shown remarkable courage, improvement or have overcome insurmountable odds. Nominations for this award will be accepted from teachers, peers, parents, staff or any other member of the community.
COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR Award is for students who have helped create links between the School and the Community, i.e., a senior residence, another school, ESL community, community organization or parent group to promote awareness of community responsibility. Nominations for this award will be accepted from teachers, peers, parents, staff or any other member of the community as well as self.
ENVIRONMENTAL Award is for students who have been involved in promoting and encouraging environmental awareness and/or have assisted with an initiative/project that have a positive impact on the environment. Nominations for this award will be accepted from teachers, peers, parents, staff or any other member of the community as well as self.
***EXEMPLARY STUDENT Award is for students who have contributed to an area such as athletics, arts, service to the school or exemplary studnets with remarkable work habits and commendable academic standing. Nominations for this award can only com from teachers. (Application form is not required).
The deadline for submission is April 23, 2010.

The following forms are very important for those who would like to apply for various scholarship, please download and look over them carefully to make sure that you understand what they are asking for.
UPCOMING SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
AERO CLUB OF BC SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000
This scholarship is to provide funds to worthy individuals as a measure of financial assistance in the pursuit of their passion for aviation. You must be a Canadian Citizen and have reasonable academic skills. You must also submit a letter from a teacher, sport coach, flying school instructor or Air Cadet leader stating why you are a deserving candidate for the scholarship.
The Selection Committee will focus on the following:
* commitment to aviation goals and past involvement
* interest in aviation fields such as pilot, tower controller, aeronautical mechanical engineer
* personal and career goals, though not necessarily in aviation
* community involvement including extracurricular activities and volunteer activities.
DEADLINE: Applications must be received BEFORE MAY 31, 2010
SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS WHO'VE TAKEN ESL
The Catherine Logan Eddy Scholarship is offering $1,000 to a student who meets the following criteria:
- demonstrated consistent improvement in academic competence
-school or community involvement or service to others and
- ESL coursework at the secondary level DEADLINE: June 1, 2010 Pick up an application from Ms. Beaton
ESL PSA SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000
This scholarship has been created to recognize a student graduating from a BC Secondary School who has combined hard work with school and community involvement and who wishes to further her/his education/training at a tertiary institute in B.C.
Criteria:
* graduate of a BC high school who wishes to attend a tertiary institution to further her/his education
* demonstrated consistent improvement in academic competence
* school or community involvement or service to others
* ESL coursework at the secondary level
* Complete an APPLICATION (pick up from Ms. Beaton)
* Include a transcript of Grade 8-12 marks
* Include a personal essay about how going to a post-secondary program will help you to become a contributing citizen of Canada and BC. Sign and submit the ORIGINAL of your essay
* Include 3 REFERENCE LETTERS. One or two from teachers, and one from someone who can talk about your support and service to others (such as coach, sponsor or community program coordinator)
* Make 2 copies of everything. One original and one copy go to the ESL PSA and one copy is for yourself
ELMER HELM YOUTH FUND AWARDS – 4 Awards of $1,500 each
The Alexandra Foundation for Neighborhood Houses is pleased to offer up to 8 Elmer Helm Youth Fund Awards. 4 awards will be for prior recipients, and 4 will go to new recipients. The purpose of the award is to help young people reach their goal of a post-secondary education. Students who are eligible for this award can apply for renewal on an annual basis for up to 4 years.
* open to students who would like to pursue post-secondary training in an artistic, academic, or technical field – normally awarded to candidates entering their first year of study.
* evidence of strong academic achievement is important
* equally important is the demonstration of a significant contribution to the life of their community – to exemplify the Neighborhood House ideal
Send the following information to the Elmer Helm Youth Fund:
* a letter from the candidate outlining personal and career goals
* an explanation of why the candidate believes he or she should be selected for the award
* 3 letters of reference from members of the community or from school
* documentation regarding academic standing or other accomplishments

FATHER E. ROSAIA SCHOLARSHIP – $1,500
Applicants must be Roman Catholic and Italian with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applications are available from Ms. Beaton

LOVISON FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – $800
Applicants must be Roman Catholic, with a 3.0 GPA with plans to attend a university, community college or technical institute.
DEADLINE: August 20, 2010
B.C. PRINCIPALS’ AND VICE PRINCIPALS’ ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Application forms are available from Ms. Beaton in Rm. 333
There are 3 different scholarships offered by the BCPVPA:
1. First Nations Student Scholarship – $500
2. Children of Members of BCPVPA – $500
3. Non-Members – up to 30 $500 scholarships available
All applications will be judged on academic excellence and demonstrated leadership with the school and community.
Application Requirements for Each Scholarship:
* Submission of the Ministry Education’s transcript of FINAL GRADES
* Proof of paid registration at a post-secondary institute (e.g. copy of a tuition fee receipt or letter from the Office of the Registrar)
* A short essay indicating leadership roles held in your school and community and your post-secondary aspirations
* A reference letter from a member of the BCPVPA (preferably your school principal)
* One additional reference letter
DEADLINE: APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 17, 2010
